Teresa’s studio in Cornwall is close to the Rivers Lynher and Tamar as well as the landscape of Dartmoor. It is surrounded by many Cornish coast paths, seas and estuaries from where she derives most of her inspiration.
Her work is rooted in the nature and effects of landscape and seascape through changing emotions, movement, light and colour. The visual language used reflects the constant connection with the elements through daily walks. From initial response to a subject, after observational drawing, the imagination takes over and instinct and innovation produce compelling canvases full of beauty and feeling.
Subjects range from land and seascape to still life objects, gardens or environmental effects such as climate change or recycling issues. Current work concerns the surface textures and patterns of lily ponds inspired by a recent trip to the Eden Project. This work is taking a more abstract direction, with experimental use of stencil shapes and the contrasts between flat and decorative surfaces.
Teresa gained a BA 1st class honours degree in painting from the University of Hertfordshire in 1996 and has since worked full time as an artist, exhibiting in galleries nationally and internationally. Her work is now in many collections worldwide. See the Exhibitions page for current shows.
